Time to re-shape the Digital Society
International Summer School on recent and upcoming EU legislative initiatives affecting the digital society
29-30 June 2021, University of Namur, Belgium
This summer school is co-organised by the CRIDS and the European Hub of the NoC. It is part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the CRIDS (Centre de recherche information, droit et société - Information, Law and Society Research Center) and will be followed by an international conference assembling high level speakers from all over the world to reflect on how to re-shape the Digital Society. The European Hub of the NoC supports scientific discussion and cooperation between internet researchers in Europe.
Intended audience and goal
The summer school is open to PhD/master degree students, researchers and practitioners coming from all over the world wanting to share their research while also eager to learn from academics, practitioners and policy makers who have a particular insight into recent and upcoming EU legislative initiatives that are re-shaping the digital society.
Organisation and subjects
The summer school will be split into five seminars covering recent research and EU legislative developments on:
- intellectual property law
- online platforms and liability
- consumer protection in the digital sectors
- data protection & security
- network and high speed connectivity
We will invite leading academics as well as guest speakers who will share their particular knowledge on EU level regulatory developments.
A keynote address will be given by Prof. Wolfgang Schulz, Research Director at The Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Internet and Society (HIIG).
